CableNet X-Tend 50#

CableNet X-TEND is perfect for lightweight architecture. The stainless steel cable mesh opens up a whole new world of spatial design options using cables. The intelligent combination of stainless steel cables and ferrules is the key to a wide range of geometries for engineered cable mesh constructions. The opposing curvature of the cables permits light, transparent structures possessing extremely high load capacity and long spans in relation to the low weight of the CableNet X-TEND material.

CableNet X-TEND can even be used outdoors with a three-dimensional curvature over large surfaces without any risk of frequency or noise generation. Our high-quality netting changes its appearance depending on the mesh size, light incidence and perspective: CableNet X-TEND provides various reflections and views, resulting in a fascinating interplay of transparent and slightly iridescent surfaces.

Secondary finishes

Due to the nature of this product and its manufacturing process, secondary finishes cannot be applied after manufacture.

Opening Angles

Cable mesh structures form spaces of a special kind, shape and design are mutually interdependent. The diamond-shaped CableNet X-TEND mesh flexibly plays with its geometry.

Other mesh opening angles than 60° standard are project-wise feasible, either to obtain spatial curves and to form three-dimensional structures, or to achieve a different visual effect with a narrower or wider mesh pattern. Note that a homogeneous tension across the entire mesh surface can be more difficult to realise than the standard 60° angle, depending on the geometry.

Basically, the more the mesh is opened, the wider but shorter the net – and vice versa. We recommend a maximum opening angle of 70–75°.

 

 

 

 


 

Orientations

The horizontal mesh diamond direction is the most commonly used. CableNet X-TEND balustrade mesh is often carried out with horizontal mesh diamond direction and long continuous mesh panels, representing the most economic solution. Mesh panels with horizontal mesh diamond direction can be installed adjacent to one another over any length or joined together on the
construction site using the suitable tools. Very long mesh panels have an almost invisible seam. The horizontal mesh diamond direction is also feasible for small, individual panels. This can mean more customising is required, comparable to vertical mesh diamond direction, depending on the mesh panel geometry.

If mesh panels are joined together continuously to the sides, CableNet X-TEND has a vertical mesh diamond direction. This mesh diamond direction can also be joined together on the construction site using the suitable tools. With larger mesh widths and in safety-related cases it may be adequate to choose a vertical mesh diamond direction. High vertical mesh panels usually have vertical mesh diamonds partly owing to the visual impact and partly for structural reasons, e.g. in the case of façades or vertical fall protection. Round geometries are also mostly realised using vertical mesh diamonds.
