Post-industrial building of epic scale and volume in the heart of the West End of London.

The former Royal Mail sorting office in New Oxford Street which has been derelict for 20+ years has been given a new lease of life. The redevelopment see’s the building transform into a commercial property that presents 33,000 sq ft of flagship retail, restaurants, and gallery spaces along with 263,000 sq ft of fully let offices.

A large proportion of the office spaces are occupied by Management consultant firm, McKinsey & Company. McKinsey & Company approached design specialists Moreysmith to help bring their ideas to life for the new offices. Space was a vital aspect of the design with the area needing to accommodate for 30,000 employees and clients.

Mckinsey’s had client experience at the forefront of their minds during the design stage, they wanted to foster greater collaboration and provide a premium experience. They wanted to bring the outside in, and they done so by featuring a biophilic design through a glazed greenhouse that’s filled with stunning plants and trees. This design was used across all of the floors including at the base of the staircase. On the tenth floor you’re greeted with enhanced 360 views of London and incredible architecture.

Client breakout spaces were the main feature throughout the top two floors with dedicated client spaces, co-working space, and premium client suites available aswell. Quiet, studious, open, and energetic spaces were designed to allow for flexible working.

Designers Moreysmith approached us about our AC400 bespoke mesh ceiling rafts. Our ceiling panels were specified with our Milan 5050 mesh to help support the light installation. The frames were manufactured in mild steel and the mesh was welded into the frame. After a simple installation and suspension method the project was complete.

Our AC400 looked spectacular alongside the suspended neon light installation and completed the overall look of the redevelopment.
