Electric Shuffle, London
Electric Shuffle brings the classic game of shuffleboard into the 21st century with a whole venue dedicated to the sport.
Taking inspiration from the pioneers of electrical technology, the game has been redesigned with a modern effect and ‘electrified’. Situated in the heart of Canary Wharf, the 9,000 sqft venue is set over two floors and comprises 10 play spaces and two bars.
We worked closely with Ellis Design Studio to offer a bespoke metal mesh creative solution for the first-floor bar. The bar features a contemporary re-interpretation of utilitarian metal factory panelling rendered in vivid electric blue, which was overlaid with our Zircon 25C expanded mesh which went alongside bespoke bronze domes, in a pattern reminiscent of electrical circuitry.
Zircon 25C was also featured underneath the custom designed ‘control panel’ feature wall, which is a further reference to the intended industrial/electrical inspiration which gives the sense of the venue to feel as if it’s ‘alive’ and ‘powered up’.
With references of Art Deco, utility of early power station and factory design infused with the unexpected beauty of aged metals, Electric Shuffle has been forged from diverse influences producing a scheme which is unique and contemporary.
